I'm Ty and I force things to exist. As a disabled trans artist, I create work that explores bodies, sex, death cults, masculinity, linguistic dispossession, pain, and queer liberation through absurdism. I investigate these themes by perverting traditional artisan practices with high material and labor costs to produce (un)wearable art, crafting functionless garments that prompt the viewer to question normative histories and imagine queer presence by asking, "why not?"
I started trying to make more physical art in 2017 because I needed hobbies that weren't on the computer, and after a year or two of tabling at punk shows, I decided that I'd rather just make art for myself. I was born with the gift of hands, and whether they're working or not, I'm going to make it everybody's problem.
